With the exception of a widget or two, this site was constructed entirely by hand using TextPad (there was a time when that meant something).
It uses pure CSS with respect to layout, menuing system, etc. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) allow for much faster loading and rendering of the pages. Also, CSS-based sites are easier to maintain.
This site does not use a Content Management System (CMS), which would be a bit of overkill since only the programmer (me) will be using it.
Lacking a local PHP server (yeah, I know about WAMP), the site uses html contruction but I'll move it all to PHP soon. (update: it's now marginally PHP)

I took the banner photo in a garden high in the Andes Mountains of Peru. The prominent plants are called Aeonium Arboreum. Other than the fact that I took this photo while on a mission trip, the banner really has nothing to do with the theme of this site. I just like the photo.
